Cucurbita maxima ‘Butternut Rugosa’:
One of the best known and appreciated varieties of squash in Northern Italy. Known as “zucca violina” for its shape, it is also called “zucca olandese” in the province of Reggio Emilia and “zucca Gandiotti” in the province of Mantova; excellent for ravioli.
Cucurbita pepo ‘Delica’:
A plant with good productivity rates that gives fruits weighing 0.5-1 kg.
The flesh is yellow-orange, firm and sweet. Eaten raw, it has a flavor reminiscent of rennet, while reminiscent of cooked chestnuts. The fruit can be stored for up to a year.
Cucurbita maxima ‘Piacentina’:
Variety selected in Italy, similar to the “Marina di Chioggia”. Widespread in the provinces of Piacenza and Mantova, a little less in the Reggiano. It has sweet and form flesh; It lasts a long winter.
